On the morning of October18th, Dr. Zhang Zhao from Michigan State University came to the College of Engineering to give an academic report on "Development, test, and improvement of an apple harvest and infield sorting machine".
Dr. Zhang introduced the major apple planting patterns in the United States and the fruit harvesting automation equipment project undertaken by the United States Department of Agriculture and the Michigan State University Joint Laboratory. The project developed a fast, efficient and low-damage apple harvesting machine for American orchards, and used in-situ automatic detection and grading technology to achieve automatic grading boxes. Finally, he evaluated the picking efficiency and the cost of post-processing.
The college teachers and students have a further understanding of the latest cutting-edge technology of harvesting machinery after the report.
